The Ontario Association of Deans of Education (OADE) is an association of deans of faculties of education and directors of schools of education representing the interests of the faculties and schools of education in Ontario’s publicly-assisted universities. OADE is committed to the ongoing development of research on education, to the continuous improvement of programs of teacher education, to the advancement of lifelong learning, and to the promotion of informed public discourse regarding educational policy. OADE believes that public education is an ethical enterprise and that teaching as a profession must be based on both scholarly knowledge and pedagogical expertise. OADE works with the Ontario government, the Ontario College of Teachers, the teacher federations and other interested parties to provide a system of teacher development that includes undergraduate pre-service teacher preparation, continuing professional development, graduate study and research.
